This place has great prices, fabulous food with a lot of options, a comfortable bed in a separate room, a central location in the bistro, and it's not far from Canada and the university campus.

My room was spacious and had all the modern comforts. Having a fridge and a work desk in the room was a nice extra touch! 🌟

I love the location, the included breakfast (although it has been downgraded a bit from last year), the room is clean, the bath & bodyworks shampoo and conditioner is a nicer touch than other hotels, the store has good choices for the rooms - which has a microwave, fridge and coffee maker and those are ideal for me when I travel. I found the bed comfortable, and the room clean, if small. The free internet, long distance calls, and breakfast were all key reasons I chose to stay at Alma, outside of the location.
I used to work in the hotel business and my one and only concern about Hotel Alma (as it was last year and this) is the security issue. I took a number of courses about security, and Alma doesn't provide the basic safety measures that, as a woman who travels alone, I need. There is no in-room safe (really I don't feel safe with those anyhow, so that is less of an issue). More significantly, there is no dead bolt on the door, for added security at night, and there is no chain lock. Anyone with a hotel key can gain access to the room. There is no additional protection for when I am in my room. I understand limited people would have access to that kind of key, however when I am in a room alone, I want to know that I have the ability to stop anyone from entering. For my safety. Also, when in the restaurant for early breakfasts, the staff ask verbally as you go by which room you are in. Which requires a verbal response in front of others. As the front desk staff obviously know, a security measure for travelers is to have the room number written down and handed to them, without verbally saying it in front of others. The restaurant staff could (as we used to do at our hotel) provide a 'nil' receipt for the person to sign and add a room number, eliminating people from getting free breakfasts on a random room number, and also giving the person the opportunity to sign a tip to their room! It works for security, staff tips and for managing breakfast customers.

The central location of this place, only 500 meters from a big rink, is convenient, while being just 20 km away from the airport.

The staff are very kind and helpful. The room is clean, cozy and quiet. You do have some choices of breakfast in the bistro, better than expected.
My room (with a queen bed) is small, while it is not really a big deal.

Quiet area not too far from stampede and downtown.
If anything, Menu a little sparse. Otherwise all good.

Location was great. Literally a 4 minute walk from Mcmahon Stadium.
This Hotel did not offer what it promised to offer. Although Hotel Alma is located in a excellent location, it did not prove to be excellent in anyother way. The rooms are exremley small and the continental breakfeast offered nothing different then a convenience store (store bought pastries and muffins with some bread and one toaster for everyone to use). The facilities are all located on the u of c campus, so be prepared to make an event of wanting to hit the gym or pool. As well the parking for guests of the hotel was not marked properly and after much hassle, we were sent to an underground parkade a ways away (I know I would not have wanted to do that walk alone at night). The complaint that takes the cake though, was the mainentance workers outside at 5 am!! I quite literally lied awake from 5am on listeniing to the bfi bin being emptied and the lawn moers running. To say the least, I am very upset with my stay and I would never choose to stay at Hotel Alma again.

The staff!! All were excellent and very friendly and happy. We spoke frequently about how great the staff was. I even had the pleasure to ride the elevator with some of the cleaning staff and we shared some laughs. Everyone was very friendly, courteous and professional. I can not say enough about the staff from those who worked the front desk, to those in the cafe, to those who toiled to keep the place spotless.
The only negative thing is the lack of a useable set of stairs. The designer of the building should have made the stair case more central and useable. I heard from other guests that the stairs lead straight outside! I know this is good for leaving a building in case of, for instance, fire. But this design prohibits individuals from using the stairs as an alternative to the elevator which requires electricity.

The location & continental breakfast included.
Noise level can be high in the hallways due to poor soundproofing in the walls.
